End Hunger Fast Starts Today

 Dr Rev Keith Hebden
Man of action: Dr Rev Keith Hebden is fasting for 40 days and nights for Lent
In the church calendar, today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.

The Rev Keith Hebden, featured in this column last week, begins 40 days without food, surviving on water and a glass of juice each day, in solidarity with Britain’s hungry.

Today, his appeal to End Hunger Fast was backed up by 20 leading secular charities, including Just Fair, Oxfam and Child Poverty Action Group, which join the original 27 bishops in calling on the Government to act on the national crisis in UK hunger.
If you agree with Edwina Currie’s view aired on Panorama on Monday night that there’s no food poverty in the UK (“it’s just about choices”), do nothing.

Otherwise join us and sign Jack Monroe’s petition calling for George Osborne to make March 19 the Budget to end hunger.
