The Labour party last night called on the Government to sack Atos immediately as it emerged the controversial benefits firm had been trying to back out of its £500million contract

It was revealed yesterday that the French IT firm had been in talks for months to get out of performing the fit-for-work tests that have seen thousands of sick people lose benefits.
Labour urged the Government to stop dithering and said people had been "badly let down" by Atos, as charities warned the uncertainty would leave vulnerable claimants worrying about the future.
Shadow minister for disabled people Kate Green said: "Labour has called on the Government to sack them with immediate effect. But changing the contract isn't enough.
