Matalan customers may have bought angora clothing without realising after bosses told staff to remove tags and advertising for the controversial fabric.

The fashion chain wanted to cover up its sale of the garments after a backlash over the barbaric treatment of rabbits being farmed for their wool.

A furious shop worker leaked Matalan’s instructions, sent in a memo to all managers.

The whistleblower said: “People will be horrified to find out what they bought.

“Apparently it was sent after customers at another branch kicked off about angora being sold and returned a lot of items.”
